Points your kids earn.

Kids earn chore points for the chores you approve. They spend them on screen time, on allowance, or on a reward you set up, like picking dinner.

No ads and no tracking. Kid mode starts only after you give consent by email.

How Gritling works

Points come from chores you approve, and kids choose how to spend them.

  1. 1

    Set up chores

Add each child, then write chores or pick from starter chores suggested for the child's age. Set the points each chore is worth, how often it repeats, and whether it needs a photo.

  2. 2

    Approve what gets done

Kids mark a chore done in kid mode. You approve it, or send it back with a note. Points land only when you approve.

  3. 3

    Kids spend their points

Kids trade chore points for screen time, allowance, or a reward you set up, at rates you choose. Cash and reward requests wait in your Payouts list until you mark them paid or given.

What's inside

Every feature below is in the free plan.

Starter chores by age

Pick each child's age band: 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 10, or 11 to 13. Gritling suggests chores that fit, and you add the ones you want in one step.

Chores you approve

Approve or send back each chore from your phone or the web. Ask for a photo on any chore you want to check. Add or take away points by hand, with a reason.

Chore points and minutes

Kids see two balances: the chore points they have earned, and the minutes ready to use. Points turn into minutes only when a kid trades them in.

A countdown on the Lock Screen

Kids start a timer for the minutes they want to use. The countdown shows on the Lock Screen, and in the Dynamic Island on iPhones that have one. A "Time's up!" alert comes when it ends. Gritling never locks or blocks an app.

Allowance you hand over

Kids can turn points into allowance at your rate. The request waits in Payouts until you hand over the cash and mark it paid. Gritling records allowance and never moves money.

Rewards you make up

Add rewards like "Pick dinner" or "Stay up 30 minutes later", each with a point price. A kid buys one, and you mark it given, or cancel it to refund the points.

Milestones and badges

Set a milestone for a full week or month of every daily and weekly chore done. It earns bonus points or one of your rewards, once per week or month. Kids also keep a chore streak and earn badges.

This week's chores

You and your kids can see what got done today and this week: what you approved, what is waiting, and what you sent back with your note.

Notifications you choose

Get a notification when a chore is submitted, when a timer starts and ends, and when a kid asks for cash or a reward. Each parent picks which ones they get. A weekly email sums up the week.

Where Gritling runs

For parents

The Gritling app on iPhone and iPad, and the web dashboard at parent.gritling.com. Invite another parent or guardian to share the work.

For kids

Kid mode, in the same app on a phone or tablet signed in to your account. Each kid picks their own profile, which can have a 4-digit PIN. Kids never get an account.
